Hello World!
Welcome to Happily Ever Riley. My name is Brittany Riley. I decided to start this blog to share with others my journey to a more natural, toxic free lifestyle. Through my struggle to lose weight, treat my auto-immune disease and now, just recently infertility, I have learned so much on what it means to be “healthy”.
Let’s Get Personal
I am a 30 something former Registered Nurse turned full time military housewife. I married my husband Christopher in 2014 and right afterwards he so graciously swept me across the ocean to the lovely country of Italy (I know, fairy tale right?). He is in the Army and we have been honeymooning here for the last 3 years. We have 2 fur-babies, Bentley a 12 year old shih tzu and Habib a 9 year old Min Pin.
They are my whole world. Having a husband who is out of the country a lot and having no children (at the moment) can get pretty lonely at times. I don’t know what I would do without my babies. They love to go for car rides and even travel with us on our European vacations. Europe is very dog friendly and we are very grateful for that.
When I’m not obsessing over my dogs or out sipping vino on the Italian countryside, I am passionately trying to learn more about health and wellness. This passion started when I wanted to find a treatment for a terrible disease that I have been suffering with for over 10 years, Psoriasis. I have tried almost every kind of harsh cream, pill and injection that conventional doctors prescribe and NOTHING was working. I was lathering on highly potent steroid cream to about 75% of my body for years and years. I had had enough! Through my research I discovered Dr. Amy Myers and decided to give her method a try. She was talking about healing auto-immune diseases from the inside out by eliminating toxins and leaky gut. Low and behold, 6 months of slowly transitioning our house to all natural/plant based products, I am now almost completely clear! It really is a miracle! (I’ll go into more detail about my psoriasis remission in separate blog post.)
The world around is full of harmful chemicals that we have been exposed to our whole life. Unbeknownst to us, we have blindly consumed these products without even batting an eye. It never occurred to me that my body wash or my laundry detergent could be wreaking havoc on my hormones and causing my body to attack itself.
With this blog I want to share my experiences and help others who suffer from disease that may be caused from the environment around us. There will also be posts about my dogs…(of course) and life living abroad! Feel free to post a comment, contact me and share this blog with your friends!
